Happy Dependence Day!
Not to be a Scrooge here, but many of the people who celebrate Independence Day are the same who vote and advocate for the very things the Founding Fathers sought independence from. I'm not pointing fingers at any one particular person or political party because both major parties are guilty of it.
This is not all that different from atheists who celebrate Christmas---and I suppose it happens to all holidays eventually. My point is, perhaps it's time to change Independence Day to Firework's Day. Or maybe to Dependence Day.
